Career Exploration Program
Our Career Exploration program aims to provide students an in-person exploration of a career in governmental environmental public health.
The program:
- Is a 200-hour paid opportunity, 5鈥�8-weeks (choose full or part-time) with host site
- Provides shadowing, field experience, and the opportunity to assist with projects
- Matches students with state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) environmental public health agencies
Student Benefits
- Base stipend of $6,000
- Need-based relocation financial assistance, if needed

Student Eligibility
To be considered as a participant for this program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Attend a college level environmental health or public health academic program
- Be willing to submit a current resume and unofficial transcript
- If selected, be willing to commit 200-hours to working with the host site you are matched with
We have a limited number of spots available for the summer 2024 pilot program, and we are prioritizing applications from students attending universities or colleges in U.S. Territories and minority-serving institutions.

To be considered for placement in the Career Exploration Program, students must provide:

Host Site Details
Host sites help students learn about the roles and responsibilities of the environmental public health workforce. As part of the program, host sites:
- Provide 200 hours of job shadowing, field experience, and mentorship in environmental public health
- Provide the student with a thorough introduction to the organization and assist them in following all policies and procedures
- Oversee completion of experience hours

By participating in our Career Exploration Program, host sites:
- Help to build the next generation of qualified applicants for state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) environmental public health roles
- Receive a support package of up to $1,500 per student for supplies or materials related to the experience
